The starting of Nirmala Sadan for the mentally retarded children was a new step in the social service field of Vimala Province, Kothamangalam.  It was started at KarakunnamParish building on 24th September 1985.  For more convenience, in the same year itself we started constructing a new building in the plot donated by His Excellency Mar. George Punnakokkottil under the leadership of the Provincial Superior Rev. Sr. Grace Mary.  By the completion of the new building, we shifted the school to Muvattupuzha and it was blessed on 14th June 1987 by Rt. Rev. Dr. George Punnakottil, the bishop of Kothamangalam.  Rev. Sr. Anto and Rev. Sr. Glory were the pioneers in this field.  Rev. Sr. Joviet, the Provincial Superior sent these sisters to U.S.A. to get proper training. The growth of Nirmala Sadan was very rapid.  Additional buildings were constructed and about 250 children are getting training here.  The Management could secure an yearly grant from the Social Justice & Empowerment, New Delhi.

       Courses like D.S.E, B.Ed, M. Ed for special Education is conducting here. A family Counseling centre is also functioning here.
